The Heirloom Tomato An Exhibition of Photographs by Victor Schrager Portraits of Historic Tomato Varieties from the Gardens of Amy Goldman August 12, 2008–August 30, 2009 In the Arthur and Janet Ross Gallery The 34 glorious color portraits of heirloom tomatoes on exhibition--a sampling of the amazing 500 varieties grown every year in the garden of acclaimed food writer Amy Goldman--pay homage to the heirloom tomato and the talents of photographer Victor Schrager.
Shapes of Nature in the Summer Garden Through September 2008 Spiked flax, fan-shaped palms, puffy vine seed pods, arrowhead caladiums, dozens of varieties of scalloped-leafed coleus, and more are lushly displayed in beds, on trellises and in formal terra-cotta containers flanking rectangular pools in the Seasonal Exhibition Galleries of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The show is a perfect indoor complement to the exhibition of Henry Moore sculpture on the Botanical Garden grounds, illustrating the artist’s belief that “the whole of Nature is an endless demonstration of shape and form.”

Farmers Market Every Wednesday, June 25–October 29, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Enjoy free admission to the Farmers Market, located inside The Botanical Garden at Mosholu Gate on Kazimiroff Boulevard. Home Gardening The Home Gardening Center is a wonderful resource for visitors to see new plants and old favorites, learn time-saving techniques, gather ideas for creative garden designs, and obtain solutions for common problems. Weekend demonstrations, tours, and presentations offer visitors the opportunity to tap into the knowledge of the Botanical Garden's experts.
For Kids In the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden, children help garden in the fresh soil. The Everett Children's Adventure Garden provides young visitors with the chance to explore nature and take part in hands-on activities.
